Flights

We strongly recommend booking your flights as early as possible, as prices jump up significantly when booking only a few months out.

The closest airport is Aspen airport (ASE). There are many direct flights from major cities with carriers such as United, Delta, and American. Other routes may require a connecting flight. (We hope the journey is made easier by the fact that the airport is a short 13 minute drive / free bus trip to the town of Aspen). Uber/Lyft can be limited so rental cars or scheduled pick ups from your hotel are encouraged. Also, most major hotels in Aspen will have complimentary shuttle pick up from the airport to your hotel. Call in advance to arrange with your selected hotel.

If a bit of a road trip is appealing to you, other options are to flying into Denver (3.5 hours), Eagle-Vail (1.5 hours) or Grand Junction (2.5 hours) and driving to Aspen.

Transportation

Public transportation (the RFTA Bus): The RFTA Transit bus is free for all routes within the town of Aspen, to Snowmass village, and to/from the airport. It’s pretty easy to navigate through Google Maps and is one of Emily and Michael’s preferred ways to get around.

Cabs / ride sharing: Locals recommend calling a taxi for rides to / from the airport. Reserve in advance at High Mountain Aspen Taxi. Hotels can also typically help with this.
Uber and Lyft are available, but can be a bit pricier, and can be less predictable / sometimes scarce.

Hotel Shuttles:
Most every hotel in Aspen has a shuttle that will pick you up from the airport and bring you around town, schedule in advance with your hotel.

Rental cars: Rental cars can come in handy, especially if you plan on exploring the area and driving to trailheads. They do book up, so reserve yours early. Note that parking can be somewhat scarce in downtown Aspen in the summer, so consider checking with your lodging about parking.
